Individual Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble1I love apple pie. But I love crumbles and crisps more. They’re easier to make and are much tastier than the boring often flavorless crust you get with an apple pie.

The best part about making your own is that you can control the types of apples you use based on your preference. I used a mix of honeycrisp and gala. You also get to control the amount of sugar you add. Check the “substitutions” tab if you prefer to make this recipe lower carb.

Using ramekins instead of a pie pan, your individual serving is built right in. Getting a serving all to yourself is a lot more satisfying, don’t you think?

And don’t worry if you don’t have apple pie spice or if you prefer to make it yourself. Here’s my recipe to make your own!

Apple Crumble

Serves: 4
Serving Size: 1 apple crumble

4 medium apples
1-1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
2T maple syrup*
1-1/2 tsp apple pie spice*
1T whipped butter
2 crunchy granola bars, crumbled or 1/4 cup granola
1. Preheat oven to 375F and lightly spray 4 ramekins or small oven-safe bowls.
2. Chop apples into bite size pieces and add to a mixing bowl with applesauce, syrup, and pie spice.
3. In a separate bowl, combine butter with crumbled granola.
4. Evenly divide apple mixture between the dishes and top with granola. Bake for 15 minutes.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with a glass of your favorite milk.
